Meaningful Questions to Bring Purpose to Your Thanksgiving Table

The holidays are a time for gathering, slowing down, and reconnecting with the people who matter most. But sometimes, between the turkey and the football game, we miss the chance to go a little deeper.

One of the most beautiful things about purpose is that it’s discovered in reflection, in stories, and in shared moments. Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to create those moments around your table.

Here are some simple but meaningful questions you can ask to spark purpose-filled conversations with your family this holiday:

Gratitude & Reflection

  • What’s one moment from this past year you’re most thankful for?

  • Who has made the biggest difference in your life this year — and why?

  • What challenge are you grateful for because it taught you something important?

Purpose & Values

  • What’s one thing you’ve done this year that felt really meaningful?

  • When do you feel most alive, most like yourself?

  • What values do you want to guide you into the year ahead?

Family Legacy

  • What’s a lesson you’ve learned that you hope the next generation carries forward?

  • When you think about our family, what’s one strength you see in us?

  • What’s a story from your past that taught you something about who you are?

Looking Ahead

  • What’s one way you’d like to grow or contribute in the year ahead?

  • If you could make one difference in someone else’s life this holiday season, what would it be?

  • What’s one thing you hope we’ll all look back on next year and celebrate?

You don’t have to ask all of these at once. Maybe write one question on each place card, or pull a few favorites to go around the table. You’ll be amazed at the laughter, tears, and wisdom that surface when people are given the chance to reflect and share.

This Thanksgiving, don’t just pass the gravy. Pass along conversations that help your family discover gratitude, values, and purpose together.
